Albert Yodakis Jr. age 80, died peacefully in his Colts Neck home on March 24, after courageously fighting a long battle with cancer.
Al grew up in South River, NJ. He attended both The Peddie School and Brown University. While Al was always proud of his accomplishments, academic and athletic, he would say his greatest achievement was meeting the love of his life, Pamela.
Al is survived by his wife Pamela Yodakis, daughter Kristen Wilson, son Albert D. Yodakis and four grandchildren: Alex Wilson, Jake Wilson, Elizabeth Yodakis and Albert D. Yodakis Jr.. In addition to being blessed with a beautiful family, Al was always surrounded by the best of friends. Al was also blessed with angels; his caregivers, who loved him and cared for him like family.
Al lived a life of service, especially to his beloved Colts Neck community including: three terms as mayor, co-creator of the special police and chairman of the planning board and zoning board. Al also prided himself on his leadership role in the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 290.
A memorial service will be held at the Holmdel Funeral Home located at 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733 on Monday, March 29 from 1PM to 4PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Colts Neck First Aid Squad, to whom we are most grateful for their unwavering dedication to our community and our family. Donations to the Colts Neck First Aid Squad can be made by check or online: Colts Neck First Aid Squad, PO Box 21, Colts Neck, NJ 07722 or www.coltsneckfirstaid.org.
From his family to all the people he encountered over the years, Al was sure to leave his mark on the world. He charged into life headfirst and let nothing get in his path. As a mentor to some and a loved one to others, he was always someone you would want in your corner. He would challenge you to push yourself and not let your potential be any less than he knew it could be. With his strong will and courageous heart, he will always live on in ours.
