Anna Alba Magri, 86, of Lincroft, NJ died on Friday, May 23.
Anna was born in Torre del Greco, a small city in Naples Italy, to the late Anna and Alfonso D’Ambrosi. She grew up in Genoa with her parents and five siblings. As a young child, Anna lived through World War II. Being that she was so young, she was then sent to Switzerland alone for a year to heal. In 1957, at the age of seventeen, she and her family came to America on the Conte Biancamano ship. They arrived in New York and found a new life in Coney Island, Brooklyn. Later, she met the love of her life, Joseph, at a dance and they married in 1963. They moved to Sheepshead Bay, where they raised their two children, Joseph and Gina.
Anna had a special love for cooking and baking. She used her gift to bring joy wherever she could. From family gatherings to church events, her cooking left a stamp of love on everyone she shared it with. She was so proud to spend several years volunteering at Tower Hill Church, feeding over 100 children. Like her father, she was also passionate about the arts. She spent much of her time painting, drawing and writing. She created a collection of letters, poems and songs to share with her loved ones. She loved to sing and became a member of the church choir. She was also blessed to have beautiful friends in the Luftman Tower community. Anna had an incredible love for the Lord, which enabled her to have a special impact on everyone. Most of all, she had an unwavering love for her family, especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
