Anna Marie Horbelt, 99, of Holmdel, passed away early Friday morning.
Anna was born and raised in Pittston, PA where she graduated from St. John’s High School. Following high school she moved to Newark, NJ to work in the factories to help with the war efforts for World War II. It was in Newark that Anna met the love of her life, Edward, whom she married in 1945. In 1955 they settled in Rockaway, NJ to raise their young family. Anna worked for many years in the Records Division of RCA as a data specialist until her retirement.
Anna loved to take trips to the Jersey shore with her family, especially Wildwood Crest. She was an avid reader and loved cheering on her sports teams, Notre Dame, the Giants, and the Yankees. Anna was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church. What brought her the most joy was spending time with her family.
Anna is predeceased by her husband Edward and her brothers James and Joseph McCarthy.
Anna is survived by her children Mary Catherine O’Connor and her husband Daniel of Holmdel, and Judith Rawnsley of Tampa, Fl.; her sister, Sister Daniela McCarthy, IHM; her grandchildren Judy Coyne, Daniel O’Connor, JR. and his partner Colin O’Brien, Brian O’Connor and his wife Kim, John Rawnsley, Susan Griesser and her husband Jason, and Timothy Rawnsley; and her beloved great grandchildren Matthew, Jacquelyn, Danielle, and Audrey Coyne; Brody, Jake and Owen O’Connor; and Edward, Will, and Beau Griesser.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2nd from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, March 3rd at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine’s Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. A burial will follow at St. Gabriel’s cemetery.
