Anne Petrozzo, 92, passed away on Friday July 5th. Anne was born in Manhattan to Louis and Josephine Buonocore and grew up in Brooklyn, where she met her high school sweetheart Michael at Ft. Hamilton High School. Anne lived in Brooklyn and raised her six children there and later Staten Island, finally relocating to Matawan in 2013. Anne and Mike summered for many years in Belmar, where they were parishioners of St. Rose RC Church.
Family and church were everything to her. She loved singing her favorite songs at family gatherings and at Mass. Affectionally known as “Aunt Boney,” Anne loved to cook Italian food and enjoyed a good pizza. She was also an inventor and held the patent for a coffee filter system purchased later by a major corporation.
Anne was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Michael, as well as her sister Lucy Raffaniello, brother Joseph Buonocore, grandson Michael Petrozzo and son-in-law, Raymond Storch.
Surviving are her children; Paul and Catherine Petrozzo, McClaren, Tx., Rosemary Storch, Manalapan, Joanne and Patrick Donegan, Staten Island, Louise and Martin Dutt, Wall Twp., Michele and Brian Zucker, Wall Twp. And Christopher and Antonella Petrozzo, Lugano Switzerland; and 14 loving grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 9th, from 5-7 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 10th at 10:30 AM, St. Rose RC Church, Belmar. Interment will be at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery.
