Annette Ervelli Creasy, 88, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
Annette was born in Newark, NJ, and graduated from Central High School in 1952. She remained a lifelong New Jersey resident and lived in the Hazlet/Holmdel community for over 65 years. “Nana” was a loving and devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her loved ones were constantly in her thoughts, and she enjoyed sending them heartfelt cards for all occasions. She always made people feel special and was an extremely generous human being to everyone in her life. Everyone will remember the thoughtful presents she gave us, her larger-than-life personality, and her eccentric fashion sense. Annette always took pride in her appearance and never let her arthritis stop her from wearing a pair of high heels. She never left the house without wearing her makeup and various pieces from her extensive jewelry collection. Annette’s home was always open to many family members and friends. Quite often, she wouldn’t let anyone leave before she fed them. She was present for every event in her childrens’ lives. Along with her husband, Fred, they enjoyed caring for and taking their grandchildren out to eat, to parks, and to playgrounds. She adored angels so much that she decorated her home with them and exemplified angelic behavior to everyone she encountered. Annette’s final words to her daughter, Joy, and her son, Vincent, were, “The angels will help me.”
Annette was happily married to Fred Creasy for 41 years, and family was central to her life. She was a caring mother to her son, Vincent S. Caprio, Jr., his wife Kim Alexander-Caprio, her daughter, Joy Caprio Ressani, and her husband, Louis Ressani. Annette is survived by her devoted siblings: Louise Malgieri, Dominic and Cathy Ervelli, and Dolores Ervelli Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Samuel Ervelli.Annette was a wonderful stepmother to Laurie Ruggeri, and her fiancé Steven Slate, Gary Creasy, and his girlfriend, Peggy Sue Duckett. She is survived by her many grandchildren: John and Julia Ressani, Brooke Alexander-Caprio, Christopher Ruggeri, Kumar and Laura Kibble, Amanda and Wes Cahill, Zachary McCullough, Kaity Creasy Messmore, Thomas Creasy, Jenna Creasy Kahn, Kyle Creasy, Emma Creasy, and Maria and Alexa Nitka. Her great-grandchildren: Cruz, Ryder, Tatum, Nova, and Aldo. She was preceded in death by her beloved stepchildren, Bonnie McCullough and James Creasy.
Annette was a thoughtful and kind aunt to her Ervelli/Caprio nieces and nephews. She remained close to her late ex-husband, Vincent Caprio, Sr., and the Caprio family over the years. Annette was preceded in death by her loving friend, Marie Montanelli. Annette considered Laura Montanelli Nitka and her husband Kevin Nitka as family. She will be missed by her cherished life-long friends, Barbara Setteducato, Rosemary Smith, Brigida Muscillo, Connie Aromando, and Dolores Simboli XXOO. She loved talking on the phone with them.
Annette’s big heart will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing she is with her angels now.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital can be made in Annette’s name.
