Anthony Fragetti, 81, of Holmdel, passed away early Wednesday morning at Bayshore Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Anthony was born and raised in Manhattan, and graduated from Chelsea Vocational High School. At 16 years old he met the love of his life, Carole, while working at Woolworth’s Five and Dime store. Shortly after graduating high school, he and Carole married and started their life together in Bergenfield, NJ and eventually moved to Holmdel where they have been for 38 years.
Anthony had a long career as a VP of Facilities at News Corp in NY City, but had many other jobs prior to that including working at Bendix Eclipse Pioneer Division where he manufactured parts for the Appollo space missions. In his spare time, Anthony was an outdoorsman. He loved bow and gun hunting and deep sea fishing. He traveled the world to places like Africa, the Florida Everglades and the Canadian Rockies to enjoy the sport. He loved to travel with his wife Carole and they traveled all over the world visiting churches. museums and exploring everything life had to offer. Some of his favorite trips included touring Italy, the Winter Olympics in Japan and visiting friends in Scotland. In his younger days he was an avid runner and ran multiple NYC and Boston marathons. He loved cooking and trying new recipes. His family was his pride and joy and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Anthony is predeceased by his wife Carole Ann Fragetti and his son Anthony Fragetti Jr.
Anthony is survived by his daughter Donna Gioia and her husband Bruce; his brother Gerard and his wife Deborah; and his granddaughter Melissa and grandson Andrew and his wife Megan.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 20th from 1:00-5:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Monday, October 21st at 10:00 AM at St. Benedicts Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. An entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
