Arline Loures, 89, passed gently on Friday, June 28th.
Arline Frances Loures was born in Brooklyn NY on January 6, 1935, as the only child to loving parents Gertrude and Frank Toner. She spent her childhood in Brooklyn before moving in suburban Old Bridge, NJ.
Arline attended Fontbonne Hall Academy, an all-girls catholic school, in Brooklyn. After high school Arline married the love of her life Jim Loures. They relocated to Old Bridge, NJ where they raised their 5 children together. Later spending their golden years in Timber Pines, Spring Hill, FL.
Along with raising her family, Arline continued her education and earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court University. She taught Special Education at McDivitt Elementary School where she excelled and enriched the lives of her many students throughout her career. Arline’s passion for her students was well known throughout the community. In the 1990’s she was honored as Teacher of the Year by the State of NJ Governors Teacher Recognition program.
Arline was a devoted and faithful wife to Jim. Their deep love was apparent to everyone they knew and could best be described as a classic love affair. In addition to her family, Arline left an indelible mark on the lives of all those she touched. She was generous to a fault, kind to all and selfless in nature. She found true joy in helping those she loved or those fortunate enough to have crossed her path. She always looked for an opportunity to improve someone’s life.
Arline created a warm, inviting and loving home for family and friends. She made it well known that her front door was always open. Her faith and her family were central to her life. She was a long-time and beloved congregant at Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church and St. Francis Cabrini Roman Catholic Church in Spring Hill, FL.
Arline is predeceased by her husband, James J. Loures, and her sons, Gary F. And Paul J. Loures.
She is survived by her children Kathleen Loures and her companion Kenneth Norcross of Spring Lake Heights, James and his wife Christine of Avon by the Sea, Steven and his wife Janet of Holmdel, and her 13 grandchildren: Broderick, Steven, Garrett Chantal, Margaux, James Toner, Cassin, Alexandra, Samantha, Steven, Andrew, Skye, and Tess; her 4 great-grandchildren: Kai, Ryleigh, Eve and Selena and her much loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Arline is also predeceased by her second husband, Donald McCartin and survived by his loving family.
Visitation Tuesday, July 2nd 9:30-11:30 am at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Road, Matawan. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel.
