Barbara A. Shannon, 79, of Elberon passed away peacefully Friday, January 21st at home surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in France, and she loved how cultured she was. She earned her associate degree from Brookdale Community College and continued her education at Monmouth University. Barbara loved her career and became Vice President of Purchasing for Saker Shoprite. Followed by a long history of working in the fashion industry in Manhattan. Coming full circle, she went back to her roots and finished her career at Food Circus.
Barbara had a dynamic personality and loved making connections with everyone she met. She spent a lot of time at the Monmouth University gym as she loved fitness. When she wasn’t at the gym, you could find her at the beach and truly enjoyed her friends. She loved going to New York with her children and grandchildren, to go to the theatre, museums and dinner. Barbara was the glue that held her family together.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Robert in 2015 and her brother Larry Nickerson. Surviving are her children James Shannon, Barbara & T.R. Dempsey and Susan Hauck & Michael Muha; her sisters Nicki, Karen (Ed Tilley); her brother Terry Nickerson & his wife Connie; her sister-in-law Marilyn Nickerson; her grandchildren Courtney & Steve Griggs, Nicole & Jack Schroeder; Blaine, Morgan, Rebecca, Clayton & Jarrett and her great-granddaughter Sawyer.
