Born in Brooklyn, NY to Cecille Morris, a homemaker and Paul Morris, a buyer for Barney’s New York, Betta went to Midwood High School where she met her forever love, Theodore Jerome Auerbach at the age of 15 as co-captains of the cheerleading team.

Upon graduation from high school, she attended The Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan where she graduated with a degree in clothing design, thereafter, becoming a designer for Farragut Childrens Clothing. Her designs were carried by department and specialty stores throughout the tri-state.
In 1952 she married her high school sweetheart “Teddy”, and they were married 52 years at the time of his passing in 2003. As her children will attest, theirs was the greatest of love stories. Together with their four children, they moved to the Strathmore at Matawan community in 1963 and were one of 12 couples that built and founded Temple Shalom in Aberdeen. Betta served as both a teacher and president of the sisterhood while Ted served as the President and Chair of the Board of Education of the religious school.
Betta is survived by her loving children Richard and his wife Jan of Ocean, Lisa Boyer and her partner Diane Wakeley of Asbury Park, Kenneth and his wife Joyce of Asbury Park, and Steven and his partner Douglas Felgenhauer of Palm Springs, CA.
