Betty-Ann Capasso, 82, of Holmdel, died on Monday, December 9.
Betty was born in Philadelphia to the late Lee and Constantine Catamas. At an early age she moved to Brooklyn NY with her family and was raised there, graduating from Lincoln High School. She then attended Brooklyn College, receiving her bachelor’s degree. Betty then attended Hunter College for Social Work and was a professional grief counselor for several years for Safe Horizons in downtown Brooklyn. She and her husband, Sal raised their two boys, Andrew and Greg in Brooklyn before settling in Holmdel for the past 20 years.
Betty was an avid tennis player and she enjoyed reading, sewing quilts, knitting, and embroidering. She was an excellent cook and baker and was a devoted and supportive mother and wife, and enjoyed socializing.
Betty is predeceased by her parents, her two sons, Andrew and Gregory Capasso, and her brother, Thomas Catamas.
Surviving is her loving husband, Salvatore Capasso, her sister Terry DeCandia, and son-in-law Tim Peeney.
Visitation will be held from 2pm – 6pm on Saturday, December 14 at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A funeral home service will be offered at 3pm. As an option to traditional remembrances, Betty’s family ask with gratitude that donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
