Carl D. Langer, 48, of Colts Neck, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Born in the Bronx, New York, he was a longtime resident of Hazlet before settling in Colts Neck six years ago.
Carl was an electrician with IBEW Local #3 in New York. He was a devoted fan of New York Sports, especially the Jets, Rangers, and Yankees. He truly enjoyed hockey and his love for the Rangers was something those who knew him will always remember.
Carl also had a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles, a passion he shared with his father and brother. It was a defining part of who he was and brought him tremendous joy throughout his life.
Carl and Tara cherished the time they spent together on Long Beach Island. A devoted dog lover, he shared a special bond with Bailey and Porsche.
Carl was predeceased by his mother, Karen Langer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Tara Langer, with whom he shared 21 years together; his parents, John and April Langer; his sister, Kim, and her husband, Christopher Lombardo; and his brother, Matthew, and his wife, Danielle. Carl was also a dedicated uncle to his goddaughter Victoria Delehanty, as well as Madison and Lauren Lombardo, Giuliana Rysz, Mila Langer, and Lily Napoli.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23rd, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 24th at 11:00 AM, at St. Gabriel’s RC Church in the Main Church, 100 North Main Street (Route 79 North), Marlboro, NJ 07746.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Carl’s passing. This news only recently reached me, and I am truly sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the pain you’ve all experienced, especially given how close you are as a family.
Although Carl and I hadn’t been in touch for over 30 years, we were inseparable when he moved to Ringwood. We lost touch when he relocated to Colts Neck, and I moved to New York City in our late teens, but those early years remain some of my most vivid memories. Who would have thought that this energetic kid—who loved working out, cars, and all the typical things teenage boys get into—would end up living right next door? In many ways, we shared so many of our first experiences together, from girlfriends to getting our licenses and our first cars. I even remember the teenage responsibility of babysitting Matthew, which went about as well as you might expect with two teenage boys.
I still remember the pride he took in that green Mustang with the cowl induction hood—it paired perfectly with my Monte Carlo SS. Carl taught me how to drive stick on that car, something I’ve never forgotten. We spent countless hours at shops, always looking for ways to tweak or upgrade something, even if it was as simple as a new stereo.
One of the moments that stands out most is when I lost my own mother at 17—Carl was there for me during one of the hardest times in my life. I often think back to standing at the one window in my house, looking to see if his—or John and April’s—car was in the driveway, hoping he was home. I spent so much time at your house in those years, and those memories have stayed with me.

Carl and I had been friends since high school , and for 32 years we never lost our rhythm. No matter how long it had been between conversations, we always picked right back up like no time had passed.
He was one of the most loyal friends I’ve ever had...and also one of the most sarcastic and funniest. The kind of friend who could make you laugh when you needed it most and who you just knew would always be there. He even stood beside me in my wedding, which says everything about what he meant to me.
