Carl Marvin Matorin, 74, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2010 at home. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY and as a student he attended Erasmus Hall High School where he played football and achieved the honor of being named 'All City Tackle.' He has made Middletown, NJ his home for the past 41 years. Mr. Matorin graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and the Bernard M.Baruch School of Business and Public Administration with a Masters of Business Administration. He worked for over forty-five years in the financial industry beginning his career at Loeb Rhoades & Company and retiring as Chief Information Officer of The Winstar Government Securities Company. During his association with the financial services industry he served on the Securities Industry Association Telecommunications Committee, as well as, serving for three terms as its chair. He additionally was a member of SIAC's SECTOR policy board also serving twice as its chair. Other accomplishments include being a founder and past president of the Wall Street Communications Association and chair of the secondary school's committee for the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Rumson for many years. He was predeceased by his father, Irving Matorin. Mr. Matorin is survived by his wife, Helene; his children, David and Jana of Berlin, Germany and his adored grandson, Jack, his mother, Esther of NYC, his sister, Sue Ellen and her husband Warren of NYC, his sister-in-law, Joanne of Hartford, CT, as well as his nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 11, 1010 at 11:00 AM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch, NJ. Interment will follow at Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery, Tinton Falls, NJ. Shiva will be held at Mr. Matorin's home on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 PM with services beginning at 7:45 PM.
