Christian J. Larsen, West Long Branch, passed away peacefully Saturday March 17th, surrounded by his family at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in New York, and was raised in Plainfield, NJ. He moved to West Long Branch 39 years ago. After graduating from University of Notre Dame, Mr. Larsen served honorably in the Air Force for 3 years as a Captain stationed in Japan. After serving in the Air Force he returned home and earned his Master's degree from N.Y.U. He was a District Manager for International Harvester before joining his father in operating Detcon Corporation, Wall Township. He retired from Detcon in 2003 and turned the operations of the company over to his son Christian. Mr. Larsen was on longtime member of Lavallette Yacht Club where he was an avid sailor. He as a member and past president of the Neptune-Ocean Kiwanis Club and a member of Knights of Columbus, Morristown. Mr. Larsen was a communicant of St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Surviving is his wife, Margaret 'Peggy' Larsen, a son & daughter-in-law Christian & Krystie Larsen, Red Bank and a grandson, Christian Patrick Larsen. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 2oth at 2:00 to 4:00 pm & 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 21st. at 10:30 am St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jerome Grammar School, 250 Wall Street, West Long Branch, NJ 07764. You may light a candle of condolence by visiting www.woolleyfh.com.
