Daniel A. Karpie passed away Wednesday afternoon at the age of 97. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Daniel was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Newark, NJ, where he graduated high school. Following high school, he served as a Merchant Marine in World War II and after went on to serve in the Navy during the Korean War. When the war was over, he began his career at Delco, a company he worked for until retirement. He also worked a second job running food concessions for movies and drive-ins, and the Garden State Art Center.
Daniel and his wife Marie raised their family in Holmdel in the home he built himself. They lived there for 57 years.
Daniel is predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Marie.
Daniel is survived by his children Deborah Doxbeck and her husband Michael, Daniel Karpie and his wife Maggie, Susan Karpie and Michael Karpie; and his beloved granddaughter Kimberly Doxbeck.
