DANIEL W. SHANNON SR., 72, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, October 28, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. A retired engineer who was born in Brooklyn, he lived on Staten Island before moving to Middletown seven years ago. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Parish, Lincroft. Daniel had a lifetime of happiness with his wife, Carole, celebrating 52 years of marriage. He cherished his family and spent all of his time with his grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and who will miss him sorely. Daniel was an avid golf player, traveler, gardener and voracious reader. He also enjoyed participating in local community events with friends. Daniel was perhaps the New York Giants #1 fan. He is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Claudine and Steven Raineri of Lincroft, Maureen and Caesar Pellicone of Middletown, Geraldine and her fiance, Robert Palumbo of Staten Island, and Kathleen and Benjamin Gauthier of Manhattan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Joanne of Lincroft and newlyweds, Daniel and Jessica of Brooklyn; and eight grandchildren, Sean and Caitlin Raineri, Joseph Pellicone, Christopher and Stephen Shannon, and Benjamin, Louis and Michael Gauthier. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mr. Shannon’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
