Doris B. Ward, 94, of Freehold died Monday, November 1st at Applewood Estate Retirement Community, Freehold.
Doris was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ. She graduated from Battin High School and later continued her education in secretarial school. While married to her late husband, John, they moved their family to Holmdel in 1970 and upon retirement they relocated to Bayville, NJ, before settling down in Freehold where they continued to enjoy retirement.
Doris is described as a classy lady. Embracing her social nature, she was extremely active at the Applewood Estates and made numerous friends. She and her husband loved to travel and share stories with their family about their experiences; some of her favorite places were Alaska and Hawaii. She is known for her skills in baking and made a mouth-watering zucchini casserole.
Doris is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, John Ward and son-in-law Samuel Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Hamilton of Elmhurst, Il; her son Robert Ward and his wife Jessica of Freehold; and her grandchildren Samantha and Alexander Hamilton and John and Jason Ward. She will be sincerely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Service for Doris will be held Thursday, November 4th at 1pm at Holmdel Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Rd, Holmdel.
