Dorothy A. Graebe was born 4/18/21 on Staten Island, NY and passed away on 2/13/23.
Dorothy graduated from Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island, where she won the championship golf and tennis awards. She was a graduate of Brandon-Stevens Secretarial School, Staten Island.
She was employed, prior to her marriage, as a bookkeeper for John Wanamaker Dept Store, Manhattan.
She moved to Texas during World War II when her husband, Henry F. Graebe, became a navigation instructor at Hordo Field, Texas, returning to Staten Island at the end of the war. She and her husband moved to Middletown, NJ in 1977.
Dorothy was a volunteer in the Pastoral Care Dept. of Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, NJ. She was a communicant at the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and served as a Eucharist Minister.
Her hobbies were tennis, golf, bridge, crochet, and crossword puzzles. She and her husband played golf into their eighties.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother of 6, grandmother of 17, and great-grandmother of 38. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She was predeceased by her beloved Bud, her husband of 73 years in October 2014 Henry Graebe.
Her children are Dorothy Anne Healey of Monroe, NJ, William S and Carole Graebe of Naples, FL, Henry and Alice Graebe of Jackson, NJ, Marie T. and Joseph Baecher of Bradley Beach, NJ, Dr. Robert A. And Nancy Graebe of Lincroft, NJ, and David W. Graebe Freehold NJ.
Mrs. Graebe was predeceased by five sisters, Doris Sherwood, Florence Roesler, Lillian Maroney, Elizabeth Sherwood, and Therese Smith.
Dorothy has requested her family not to mourn her passing but gratefully celebrate a life gifted with an abundance of blessings.
Visitation Wednesday, February 15 from 9am – 10am at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, February 15 at 10:30 am at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.
Dorothy’s funeral Mass will be con-celebrated by her grandsons, Father Brian A. Graebe and Father Henry F. Graebe, III. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Holmdel.
