Edmond R. Day, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and true renaissance man, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024. Born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, Edmond lived a life full of adventure, creativity, and love.
After graduating from Bayonne High School, Edmond answered the call of duty and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he pursued his passion for innovation and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Monmouth University. From there he began a long career with Bell Laboratories.
Edmond’s talents knew no bounds. He was a singer, dancer, coach, sailor, carpenter, mechanic, and painter—a true renaissance man who embraced life’s many opportunities to learn and grow. Music was one of his great loves, and he found joy in the melodies of John Denver, Billy Joel, and Bob Seger. These artists were his “go-to” choices whenever he serenaded an audience with his karaoke machine, leaving smiles and memories in his wake.
Married for over 60 years, Edmond was devoted to his beloved wife, Caroline, who predeceased him in 2022. Their love story was one for the ages, and his heart never truly let go of her.
Edmond is survived by his loving son, Anthony; his devoted daughter-in-law, Laura; and his three cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, and Olivia. He also leaves behind his dear sister-in-law, Ann Van Brunt, and his nieces, Carrie Giroux and her husband John, Caroline Calligy, and Geri Subjinski, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Edmond’s legacy of love, creativity, and a zest for life will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with this extraordinary man.
