Monmouth County Freeholder, Edward Stominski, Sr.

Age 82 | February 20, 1943 – November 20, 2025

Edward Stominski was born in South Carolina during his father’s service in the US Army. His family later moved to Red Bank, New Jersey, where he graduated from Red Bank Regional High School in 1961. In 1965, he married Loretta (née Nadeau) Stominski, the love of his life. He then attended and graduated from Monmouth College (now Monmouth University) in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

In 1967, Ed built a house in Eatontown and moved there with Loretta. He began his community service career in 1980 when he was elected as a councilman to the Eatontown Borough Council. He served as a councilman until 1994, after which he was elected Mayor of Eatontown, a position he held for four years. Ed is remembered for successfully attracting businesses to Eatontown’s Industrial Park area and for various other improvements to the town. In 1996, he was elected as a Monmouth County Freeholder (now Commissioner) and served until 2004. Holding office and serving the public was Ed’s greatest passion.

Professionally, Ed worked in Public Relations and Professional Development at JCP&L, traveling globally to attract businesses to New Jersey. He retired from JCP&L after 35 years and later worked for the NJ Turnpike Authority, retiring as a Customer Service Manager in May 2025.

Edward was an active member of several civic organizations including the Eatontown GOP, Monmouth County GOP, Eatontown Elks, Eatontown Lions, and Eatontown Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed playing golf whenever he could and was dedicated to helping those less fortunate.

Ed was predeceased by his wife Loretta in 2020 after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his only son, Edward Stominski Jr. of Eatontown, along with many friends and business associates.
