Elaine Catherine Freda Spille, of Oceanport, N.J., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 30, 2021, due to complications of Dementia. She was 78 years of age.
Elaine was born in Manhattan, NY, to the late Marvin and Eva Freda, and was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduating from Erasmus Hall High School. After high school, she began working for McCrory’s, and later for the W.H. Sadler Publishing Company. She retired after several years as an executive secretary for Lehman Brothers financial institution in New York.
Elaine enjoyed painting and crafts, and possessed a passion for singing, while studying and receiving training in performing opera. She remembered the birthdays, anniversaries and dates of life’s events with cards and gifts for the entire extended family and friends.
Elaine is pre-deceased by her parents, Marvin and Eve Freda, her late husband, Lawrence Spille, and her loving sister-in-law, Eileen Freda.
She is survived by her brother, William A. Freda, of Basking Ridge; her sister, Janet Freda Ritter, and husband Christopher, of Manchester. Also surviving are nieces Elizabeth Miller, Karen Mallon, Ellen Odren, Deborah Browne, Katherine Casella, and Kristin Casella, along with many loving great-, and great-great nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her best friend throughout most of her life, Elisa Papa.
A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 101 Chelsea Avenue, Long Branch, NJ. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY on September 29 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Elaine’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (act.alz.org/donate), or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, (www.stjude.org)
