Elaine Josephine Stemmer, 52, of Middletown passed away in her home Saturday night.
Elaine was born in Edison and raised in Colonia. After earning her bachelor’s from Seton Hall University, she went on to earn her J.D. from New England Law School, and once graduated, practiced law for some years. From law Elaine transitioned to recruiting, spending over a decade as Director of Recruitment for Executive Solutions and DESO Consulting, family firms she and her husband started together.
Elaine married her husband, Donald, in 2002– bringing to fruition a Hail Mary promise from Don that dated back to Colonia High School’s 1987 Carnation Day. The couple began their life together in New Providence until moving to Middletown to raise their two daughters. As well as a devoted and loving homemaker, Elaine was a talented craftswoman, and started a second business, the Paper Petal Shop, where she hand-made flower walls and balloon entryways for local weddings and parties. She enjoyed summers with her family in LBI; was an avid gardener, reader, and tea-drinker; and a dedicated Catholic who loved her dogs– a Ridgeback, Cavapoo, Dachshund, and Shepherd.
Elaine is predeceased by her mother Theresa Sulse.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 19 years Donald Stemmer Jr.; her beloved daughters Sophia Theresa Stemmer and Olivia Nicole Stemmer; her father Angel Sulse, MD.; and her brother Louis Sulse and his wife Tammy, Charles Sulse and his wife Jodi, Joseph Sulse and his wife Nancy, and Paul Sulse.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 18th from 5:00-8:30 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A service will be offered at 8:30 PM.
