Frances Forlenza

September 16, 1938 - April 17, 2020

Frances Forlenza was a loving mother, devoted wife, giving sister, proud grandmother and true friend.

With a bright smile and big heart, she always comforted others — never mentioning that she was a cancer survivor or Parkinson’s sufferer. She bravely accepted her fate and never complained.

Raised by her grandparents in Newark, her cooking, strong family ties and sense of humor showed her Sicilian roots. All were welcome to Christmas dinner and to her lasagna, chicken parmigian and struffoli. And if someone needed support she was always there with kind words and a warm hug.

We were blessed to be touched by my mother’s love: Love for her family, love for her friends and a deep love for God which gave her the strength to persevere and inspire others. Her strong faith, compassion and selflessness made her a saintlike presence in the lives of all who knew her.

She was a kind, beautiful woman. We will all miss her, but her love and spirit will always be with us. So when we are sad or troubled, we can say a little prayer to Saint Frances of Newark and she will be with us.

I idolized Aunt Fran since I was a little girl. She was such a sweet, loving person. We always had fun at the shore. She won Scrabble every time we played. I will miss her so much. My condolences to Joseph, Jeffery, Jack, and Jackie. Love you all.

Aunt Fran was a beautiful person both inside and out. She always showed her love for us...and we couldn't have loved her more. She will be dearly missed. Condolences to Joe Jr., Jeff, Jack, Jack Jr. and the entire family.

Your mom and dad were incredibly wonderful parents and grandparents. Your mom was also a kind, encouraging sister. I looked up to her and admired her warm gentle personality. She always saw the good in people and the bright side of life. Your dad was also exceptional and I'll never forget how patiently and lovingly he cared for your mom. Words cannot express our sorrow. We will miss them so much. We were all blessed to have them in our lives and I thank God for the many special memories. Our love and prayers.

Wildwood summers will not be the same without my visits to Aunt Fran and Uncle Joe’s condo. I have countless fond memories of playing cards with Aunt Fran growing up and Uncle Joe’s crab dinners. In recent years seeing the love they felt for my children, just as they had for me was such a special gift for me. Aunt Fran and Uncle Joe, you are loved. You will be missed!

Everything that is written about Fran in her obituary is true. She was just a kind soul, never bothered anyone and always had a smile. We got to see her in Wildwood for the past few summers. She was a joy to be around. We are so sorry for the family and please accept our sympathies. May she rest in peace with no pain or suffering in the arms of God. Love Marty and Toni Taccetta.

Fran will always hold a special place in our hearts... "Aunt Fran" was extended family to all the Pedra's -always ready to feed anyone who entered her home, chat, play games or just give us hugs. We counted on seeing her at the shore. She was usually the first person we greeted and the last person we would kiss goodbye. We pray for God's grace to bless her. Our sincere sympathy to Fran's family. We are so sorry to hear that our long time neighbor and her husband have both died. Indeed a tragedy. We will keep her sons, Joe, Jeff and Jack in our thoughts and prayers.

Fran was a treasure during our young family’s time at the beach. She would tease that we brought a new baby every summer. And every summer Fran would kiss our babies and make them feel adored. We will remember her fondly.
