Frank L. Pento, 87, of Holmdel, died on Thursday, December 12.
Frank was born and raised in Queens, NY to the late Rosaria (Rose) and Masamino (Sam) Pinto in 1937. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School, and received his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from CCNY (Class Salutatorian), and Master’s in Electrical Engineering from NYU. He had a 34-year career as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Lucent Technologies.
Frank was a devoted family man who poured his love and energy into those closest to him. His unwavering dedication as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather set the standard for what it means to be a loving and dependable patriarch. An athlete at heart, Frank remained active throughout his life. Whether coaching his children in baseball and soccer, playing men’s softball into his late 70s, or caring for the home he built almost 60 years ago, he embraced each moment with the spirit and determination of a much younger man. He never let age define him and was always willing to lend a hand, troubleshoot and problem-solve for others. Frank leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. His love, wisdom, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind, and his presence will be missed forever.
Surviving are his beloved wife Mary Pento of Holmdel; his 4 sons – Frank Pento Jr.; Michael Pento and his wife Jenifer; Christopher Pento and his wife Gina; and Gerard Pento and his wife Michele; his brother Louie Pento and his wife Nancy; (his sister Angela Canella is predeceased); 8 grandchildren – Maria, Annette, Angela, Christopher, Gianna, Michael, Gabriella, and Giamarie; and 5 great-grandchildren – Adriana, Vincent, Serafina, Rocco, and Aurelia.
