Fred Farina died peacefully at his home in Red Bank, NJ on Tuesday, July 6^th at the age of 70.

Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara Farina; son, Jared Hensley and wife Vanessa Hensley; sister, Fran Somers and husband Roger Somers; nephew, Eddie Somers and wife Stephanie Somers; niece, Michelle McConville and husband Eric Richardson; nephew-in-law, Michael McConville; grandnephews, Andrew Somers, Jake McConville, Zach McConville, Sean McConville, and Jake Richardson; and grandniece, Alison Somers. He is preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Farina; mother, Margaret Meserole; and stepfather, Harold Meserole as well as by his beloved golden retrievers Dusty, Lindy, and River.

Fred was born on December 13^th, 1950 in Newark, NJ to Frederick Farina and Margaret Farina Meserole and was raised alongside his sister, Fran. After moving to Highlands, Fred graduated from Henry Hudson in 1968. Fred went on to attend Rutgers University where he developed a deep love for the Scarlet Knights. Fred worked for Arrow Limousine in Red Bank, NJ and after moving to South Carolina, co-founded J Allen Landscapes in Murrells Inlet, SC. Fred met his wife, Barbara Farina, while in South Carolina in 1995. They fell in love and went on to marry in 1997. He welcomed her and her son with open arms and quickly formed a loving bond with Jared. Fred and Barbara enjoyed gardening together and the family share fond memories of trips to the Bahamas. His son remembers him as a loving father who was always ready and willing to play catch. His great sense of humor and quick wit will not soon be forgotten.

Fred was known to be a lover of animals.  He took great pride in his dogs and cared for them to the fullest extent. In particular, Fred loved golden retrievers. He loved all three of his golden retrievers and their unique personalities. We are certain that Dusty, Lindy, and River are reunited with Fred. Fred also had a great love for sports. From his days playing fastpitch-softball at the Count Basie Field to cheering on all things Rutgers, Fred was happiest with a good game on the television and a golden retriever by his side.
