Gary (Butchie) Gentile, 75, of Ocean, passed away Saturday February 20th at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after battling COPD and lung cancer.
Gary was born in Neptune and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a data processing manager for over 25 years with Torwico Electronics, Lakewood. He spent the last 17 years working at Costco in Ocean, NJ. His favorite thing to do was grab a churro or pretzel after his shift.
Gary was quick witted; a fabulous storyteller and enjoyed his Starbucks coffee. He would spend his free time birding, fishing, and canoeing with his wife. Photography was a passion, particularly taking wildlife pictures throughout New Jersey. Gary also enjoyed reading, working with computers, listening to music, and watching his favorite sci-fi shows.
Most important to Gary was his family. His true joy was spending time with his family, especially holidays at his daughter’s homes. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his family as a man who loved to do handyman projects and share his knowledge with his grandsons.
Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Karen Frances (Addeo); his daughter, Brooke, and her husband, Christopher Brown, of Brick, NJ; his daughter, Bethany, and her husband, Dwayne Kobesky, of Brick, NJ. He is also survived by his grandsons, Nicholas and Declan.
All services will be private. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Gary’s name be directed to The New Jersey Audubon Society; njaudubon.org.
