My most sincere condolences to George's family, friends, and colleagues. I met George only a couple of times, but we spoke on the phone often, especially in the last year. He always checked on me and my business, making sure I navigated all the SBDC and SBA programs the proper way, and mentoring me on my business development. The first time I met George I remember being surprised at how nice of a man he was, but then quickly realized that he was much more than that. Truly caring, generous, helpful, inspiring, funny, real. It was an honor meeting him and I will miss him.

George was a wonderful colleague of mine. We worked together in several projects at the College of Staten Island. I remember at one winter morning (2019), I ran into him at the parking lot. I was looking at my warm hat but somehow I forgot to bring it to work. George without hesitation went to his truck and gave me a brand new warm hat. It was a gift from one of his clients. On that night, there was a snow storm and I am so thankful I have his hat. I will never forget!!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dear George, you have left us way too early and my heart is broken. You were a friend like no other and truly a mentor to many. A man who lived life to its fullest and touched every life you encountered. I am so happy to have the many wonderful memories that we made together and those are things that I will always remember with love. It was an honor to be able to be at your wedding to Shawn and share in your happiness of that day. You will continue to live on in my heart forever.
Alexander Batallan left a message on April 23, 2021:
My dear friend George. When we met we were both encountering new chapters in our lives. Although our challenges differed, our personalities bolstered each other’s strengths and we managed to turn the page. When we shared our stories on the first day we met and I told mine, you said “Interesting...I’m going to include your story in my book”. I looked at you startingly and you responded “don’t worry I’ll give your character another name...I do that with all the characters in my book”. We chuckled at the idea of writing a book however, within a short period of time I realized you were serious. In retrospect I realized something incredible. Not only are you an open book, George, your life was the book you longed to write. You are the protagonist and we the supporting characters intertwined by your role in life. You lived vicariously through our life experiences and successes. By George! you accomplished your literary endeavor without knowing it. We, your supporting characters, can attest to that. You created a book of life filled with traveling adventures, international relations, nature, horticulture, compassion, self-improvement, opposing discourses, humor, mentoring, and culinary arts. Your masterful work of literary art may not have been in writing. Instead, it was a masterpiece that transcended time which shall inevitably be etched into our fond memories, forever!

George was a colleague, a friend, and an excellent human being. He was the kind of person to make friends easily because he was generous with his time and attention, thoughtful and kind. His positivity was contagious and sincere. He saw beauty everywhere and pulled every ounce of it from this life. I will miss him terribly. My sincere condolences to Shawn at this terrible time and to his dear friends and family. I am so glad to have known him.

I worked with George since the 1990s. We often spoke about working outdoors, our love of hiking, and the places where we've traveled (and where we wanted to travel to). I never knew anyone who was so curious about exploring the world, and was so capable of listening to the people whom he met. This earth is lesser for his absence. I'll miss him very much. Blessings to Sean, his family & his many friends.
