Gertrude Zinman Gelernter, of Long Branch passed away at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Gelernter was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. She lived in Bradley Beach before moving to Long Branch 57 years ago. She was a member of Congregation Brothers of Israel and was active in the Sisterhood. She was a graduate of Hunter College, New York. She became a home bound teacher and a Learning Disabilities Teacher for the Long Branch Board of Education. Mrs. Gelernter was first and foremost a wonderful, wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Boaz Gelernter; their son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Gelernter and Patricia Koch, Princeton; their daughter and son-in-law, Celia Gelernter Sealfon and Stuart Sealfon; their five grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Adam, Jessica and Elizabeth. Graveside services were held privately at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y. Contributions in her memory may be made to Mt. Sinai Medical Center, One Gustave L. Levy Place, New York, NY, 10029-6574.
