Hazel Wainright Butler passed away January 15, 2021.  She was 103.  Born December 17, 1917 in Long Branch, Mrs. Butler was a lifetime resident of the Jersey shore.  She graduated from Long Branch High School with the class of 1936, moved to Oakhurst in July of 1969 and was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in West End.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George A. Butler, in 2003 and by her daughter, Hazel Butler Szabo, brothers Robert “Rip” Wainright, Daniel Wainright and Joseph Wainright, sisters Myrtle Pieper and Frances Wilson.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law George and Michele Butler, sister Helen Meyer, grandsons Christopher Szabo, Brian Butler (Kristin) and Ryan Edgar, granddaughters Colleen Butler and Gillian Edgar (Alonso), as well as seven great grandchildren.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michael’s Church St. Vincent de Paul Society, 800 Ocean Ave., West End, NJ 07740 would be appreciated.
