Ida Englander, of Long Branch, NJ died on Saturday, April 5, at her home. Born in Freehold, NJ, Ida graduated valedictorian from Freehold High School, and she also graduated valedictorian from Beth Israel School of Nursing. She worked for 20 years as a recovery room nurse at Riverview Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Elliott S. Englander and her son David, sisters Lillian Dundee and Tillie Brickman, and a brother Nat Camson. Her greatest joy was time spent with family and friends. Ida enjoyed traveling the world with her friends, and visited Israel, Italy, Mexico, England, Spain, Morocco, Canada, France and the Caribbean. She had a passion for entertaining and cooking and hosted many family holiday gatherings, plus several piano concerts and even a wedding. She loved the world of medicine, and often diagnosed and nursed family and friends back to health from numerous ailments. She frequently attended Broadway musicals and plays, and she was an avid reader. She also played the piano. She and her husband were among the founding members of Monmouth Reform Temple in 1959. She is survived by the loves of her life, son Richard and his wife Karen, son T.J., and two grandchildren David and Stephanie, and brother Jeff Camson. Funeral services will be at Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch, Monday, April 7, 1:00 PM. Interment Brothers of Israel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Shiva following the service will be at Ida’s former home at 422 Ocean Avenue. Donations can be made to either Plant a Tree in Israel or the American Cancer Society.
