James A. Oliviero, 85 of Eatontown, passed away Friday, June 21st at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch with his family by his side. Mr. Oliviero was born in Newark and raised in Bloomfield. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he went to work for the U.S. Postal Office and lived in Montclair. In 1963 he and his family moved to their new home in Essex Fells, NJ where he lived until he retired and moved to Eatontown. He enjoyed volunteering with his wife Nancy for many local charities including the Special Olympics. Mr. Oliviero loved horses and was often found enjoying a nice day Monmouth Park. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a true Patriot, supporting the U.S. Military in all ways. We will always love and remember him and all those in our family that passed before him, his parents, Gerald and Katherine, his first wife, Minnie, his son, Gerald and his step-daughter, Tracy Light. He leaves behind his precious CoCo; his wife, Nancy; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rob Schiffenhaus, and their children, Jamie and Marin, of Essex Fells, NJ; daughter-in-law, Marcia Oliviero and her children, Jeff and Jenna, Sparta, NJ; his step-children Michelle and her husband, Bruce Adler and their son K.P. of Deal, NJ, Margaret Light, Wall Twp. and Steve and Christine Light, Manhattan; his sister’s, Anne Apito, and her son James, Matawan; and Janice and Peter Plaia, Bloomfield and their Children, Denise and Peter. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 20th, 11 am, at the Hope Presbyterian Church, 1189 Hope Road, Tinton Falls, NJ.
