Janice Kathryn Turner, 73, of Highlands, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born in Jersey City on October 13, 1951, Janice was the daughter of the late Anthony (“Tony”) E. Aliano, Jr. and Helga Baehr. She grew up in Weehawken and graduated from Weehawken High School before continuing her studies at Brookdale Community College.
Janice dedicated 42 years of her professional life to Monmouth Medical Center, where she began in Human Resources, later transitioned to Radiology, and ultimately served as Assistant to the Director of the Medical Staff Office for over three decades. Her dedication and excellence earned her numerous awards and the admiration of her colleagues. She formed many friendships during her career, including with her boss Connie Bunting, who provided extraordinary care during Janice’s final days.
Janice was a vibrant and kind-hearted individual who brought joy to those around her. She was an avid runner and a proud member of the Jersey Shore Running Club, frequently placing in her age group at local road races. A talented cross-stitch artist and cooking enthusiast, she also loved reading, solving crossword puzzles (often completing the Sunday *New York Times* crossword in pen), and traveling to Disney World. She had a rare talent for giving the perfect gift and touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and generosity. Her impeccable taste in fashion and love for cats—especially her beloved Pogo and Poppit—were hallmarks of her personality.
Janice is survived by her significant other and best friend Frank DeMarco; her daughter Erika Turner; her brother Brian Aliano; nephew Eric Aliano; step-siblings Karen Usatine and Richie Usatine; former husband Carl Turner; and her cherished cat Pogo. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Ronnie Aliano, step-sister Moira Usatine, and her beloved cat Poppit.
In accordance with Janice’s wishes, all services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Monmouth County SPCA (www.monmouthcountyspca.org).
Janice’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered support during this time. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
