Joan C. Turner, 79, of Hazlet, died on Sunday, July 13.
Joan was born in South Amboy to the late Agatha Helen and John Vincent Hanson. She was
raised in South Amboy and graduated from Sayreville High School. Joan married and raised her family, who were her pride and joy, in Middletown, Ireland, and finally Holmdel. Joan was the principal tax clerk for the Holmdel Township for twenty-five years before retiring.
She enjoyed reading, socializing with her many friends and neighbors, visiting her grandchildren, listening to music at the South Amboy waterfront in the summer, and spending Sunday dinners with family. Joan will be remembered for her selfless and warm nature, positive attitude, infectious laugh and terrific sense of humor. She treasured and maintained friendships with many people she encountered in her lifetime.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Gary Turner, and her brother, Richard Hanson.
She is survived by her children Tricia and her husband James Curcio of Newtown Square, PA, and Keith and his wife Katherine Fleming of Washington, DC, her sister Patricia Florek, six beloved grandchildren Ross, Joseph, Caroline, Anna, Madeleine, and Nicholas, her niece Sharon Roche, and many other loving nieces and nephews.
Joan’s funeral services will be held privately. A memorial gathering will be announced later.
