Joan Fiederowicz, 92, of Camden, Maine, previously Holmdel, NJ passed away on Wednesday, June 15th.
Joan was born and raised in Jersey City, shortly after graduating from her local high school she would meet the love her life. The two would marry in 1950 and move to a bungalow in Keansburg to start their life together. Joan began her working career in New York as a telephone operator then transitioned to Bell Labs in Holmdel. As the family grew, they moved to Holmdel where they would settle down for over sixty years to raise their five children. She was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church in Holmdel before her move up north.
Joan enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, playing the slot machines, road trips with her husband around the country and abroad. A devoted partner and mother, Joan took care of her ailing husband and children as their health declined. In addition to being an avid jigsaw and crossword puzzle player, she loved to recount her stories of her youth in Jersey City to anyone who would listen and cooking Sunday dinners for her family.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, Gregory Fiederowicz, daughter, Laureanne Melanson, son, Gregory “Gary” Fiederowicz, and son-in-law Michael Korda. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Korda, Holmdel, her son Mark Fiederowicz and wife Maura Matteo, Camden, ME, her daughter Susanne Fiederowicz, Cincinnati, OH, grandson Adam Korda and his fiancé Amanda George, Hazlet, NJ, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Coleman and her husband Ryan Coleman and their children Annalise and Bennett.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A mass of Christian burial will be offered Saturday, June 25th at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. A burial will follow at Holmdel Cemetery.
