Joan Weinstein, 80, of Hazlet, NJ formerly of Lincroft, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY and attended Midwood High School and Brooklyn College. She moved to Miami, Fla., and graduated from the University of Miami where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and met her future husband, the late Edward B. Weinstein. In 1953 after getting married, Joan moved to Monmouth County where she lived until the time of her death. Joan was a loving mother and grandmother who was very giving and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking and loved animals. Joan also loved literature and had an amazing knowledge of politics and current events. She volunteered for various organizations including Deborah Hospital and was extremely generous to all who knew her. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Edward in 1981 and her loving daughter-in-law Kathleen.. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Karen and son-in-law Rich Englander of Tinton Falls, her son Paul Weinstein and daughter-in-law Marilis of Tinton Falls, her daughter Lori and son-in-law Andrew Dars of Somerset, five grandchildren (David, Daniel, Stephanie, Alex and Jennifer) a brother, Melvin J. Kahler of Port St. Lucie, Fl, and a sister-in-law, Mildred Becker of Fair Haven, NJ. Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 16, 1:00PM at the Woolley Funeral, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch, NJ. Interment will follow at the Temple B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Headquarters Building, 20 Pine Mill Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or to CPC Behavioral Healthcare with contributions made to 'CPC Foundation' at CPC Development Office, 10 Industrial Way in Eatontown, NJ 07724.
