He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Josephine Galizia Friebely; three children from a previous marriage, Jennifer Friebely, Christine Tomlinson (Joseph), and John Friebely (Denise); eight grandchildren, Becky, Emma, Jack, Jessica, Aidan, Evan, Lily, and Sean; and one great-grandson, Danny. He was predeceased by his grandson, Todd. A natural, gifted athlete, Dan excelled at every sport he played. As a teen, he was a nationally ranked junior tennis player and went on to become a collegiate varsity athlete in soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse. A graduate of Syracuse University, Dan enjoyed a long career in finance, becoming a member of the NYSE while running his own floor brokerage business, JDF Securities. He was beloved among NYSE floor colleagues for his generosity, wit and loyal friendship. Later in life, Dan satisfied his competitive athletic drive with a passion for golf. He could often be found enjoying a round at Bamm Hollow Country Club with his wife and friends and enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Hilton Head, South Carolina for more golf when the weather got colder. A lifelong lover of animals, Dan could never be found far from one of his dogs, especially his most recent, Crosby.
