John G Rueshoff, 90, of Holmdel, died on Thursday, October 3.
John was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Margaret and Gerhard Rueshoff. In 1941, he and his family moved to New Brunswick, where he was raised. He opened his business, C & P Kitchens in Hopelawn, where he worked until retiring.
John enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He grew several different vegetable including lettuce, zucchini, peppers, cucumbers, corn, and most notably tomatoes. John also enjoyed traveling with his family to Florida, Maine, and the Virgin Islands.
John is predeceased by his parents, his daughter Dana Rueshoff, and his siblings, Sister Agnes Vincent, Margaret McQuillin, Elizabeth Lovuolo, and Richard Rueshoff.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheila Rueshoff, daughter Lisa and her husband Jay Semsel of Summit, his sister Mary Rueshoff, grandchildren Andrew and Amanda Semsel, many loving nieces and nephews, Rebecca Semsel and Victor Tracy, Jr., friend Marsha G., and neighbors Joe and Gail Mocci.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6 from 2pm – 4pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, October 7 at 9am at the Church of St. Catharine, Holmdel. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
In lieu of traditional remembrances, John’s family asks with gratitude that donations in his memory be made to St. Vincent de Paul, St. Catharine’s PO Box 655.
