I graduated from Sayreville in 1988. Mr. Resh was the one who told me to apply to Cooper Union in my senior year. I never heard of that school before. He told me it was tuition free and I was probably good enough to possibly get in. I had no money for college. I got in. I even worked there for three years after graduating. I met my future wife there, started a business with three other graduates there, still run a business that started with that prior business. I have two kids, both of whom wouldn’t exist if I did not attend Cooper. His good advice changed my life.

My heart goes out to the Resh family. Mr. Resh was an art teacher of mine during high school. There is an abundance of skills that I learned while I was kid that I still use today. Though I'm not a professional artist, I do paint and a lot of graphics ...every once in a while when I'm working on a project, I have that recognized aha and know it came from his guidance so many years ago! He was a very patient teacher and he really knew how to encourage creativity. I hope you all know his teaching has allowed him to infinitely touch this world!

Certain teachers leave a lasting impression with their students and Mr. Resh certainly did with me. He put a paintbrush in my hand in 10th grade and over forty years later, I am still painting, even selling my work. I'm sure I'm not the only student that feels that he gave us a push to try something we never did before. He truly was a fantastic teacher, adept in so many mediums. I have fond memories of helping with set designs and the days, weeks and months of painting after school to get the sets.... "theater ready....people....Theater ready!" The world has lost a talent, but his legacy in art lives on in his many students. My deepest condolences to Mr. Resh's family and friends. Sandy Peterson Moncur SWMHS Class of 81. Mr. Resh truly was a brilliant artist and we were very lucky to have him as our teacher.
