John “Jack” Durnan, 78, of Avenel, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15th.
Jack was born and raised in Jersey City, son of the late Elizabeth and Terence Durnan. He graduated from Dickinson High School, and shortly after graduating, was drafted into the US Army. After his military service, he worked for the US Postal Service for many years before retiring. He then took a job with Continental/United Airlines and enjoyed traveling the world as one of the job’s many perks. In addition to traveling, he loved spending time with family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, and his siblings Terence “Terry” Durnan and Elizabeth “Betty” Ricigliano.
Surviving are his sons, John (Jay) and his wife Melissa Durnan of Toms River; and John (Jacky) T. Durnan of Sierra Vista, AZ; his sister, Dorothy Jablonski of Deerfield Beach, FL; his grandson, Dexter; his grand-dog, Beck; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 11am at the Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Holmdel.
