John Joseph Picard, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on April 19th. He was a lifelong resident of Long Branch.
John graduated from Star of the Sea Academy, Red Bank Catholic High School and received his B.S. in Computer Science from Stockton State College. He worked for many years as a Computer Analyst at Ft. Monmouth before his retirement in 2011.
John was an active member of the Long Branch Elks, where he was a member of the Audit Committee and statistician for the Dart League. He was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award several times. He loved to take his daily walk on the boardwalk in Long Branch, and enjoyed watching all sports, especially the NY Mets and NY Giants.
John will be remembered as a kind, gentle and generous man and he will be greatly missed.
John was pre-deceased by his mother Ann Nolan Picard, Father Maurice Picard, sister Anita and step-mother Maxine Picard. Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Suzie and Ron Gironda of Oceanport; his nephew, Kyle Gironda, his niece, Lianne Gironda and step-sisters Elise MacDonald and Cheryl Mulliken.
Visitation will be Monday April 24th, from 4 to 7 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Mass of Christian burial, Tuesday April 25th, 10:30 am at the Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. John will be buried in a private interment at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
