Joseph Anthony Magri, 91, of Lincroft, passed away early Thursday morning.
Joseph was born and raised in Gravesend Brooklyn and graduated from St. Michaels High School. He would then be drafted and serve his country honorably in the Navy. He spent his Navy career on the USS Battleship Missouri and traveled the entire world two times over. Following his military service, he would return to Brooklyn and attend Brooklyn College and graduate with a degree in business, it was then he began his prosperous career in sales.
Joseph would marry the love of his life, Anna, in 1963 shortly after meeting her at a dance in Coney Island she did not want to attend. The two would move to Sheepshead Bay and raise their young family there. Joseph was very into his health early on, before many people knew anything about it. He learned as much as he could about keeping his body and mind in peak health and his passion was to teach others the same. Joseph enjoyed going to the beach, spending weekends in the Poconos, playing paddle ball in the park, watching his garden blossom each year, and above all, spending quality time with his family.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Joseph P Magri and Josephine Cerreta; and his sister Anna Ficara.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Anna Magri; his children Joseph P Magri and his wife Laura, and Gina Giannattasio and her husband Allie; his brother Angelo Magri and his wife Vicky; his grandchildren Joshua and his wife Ashley, Joseph, Justin, Danielle and her partner Michael Allen, Nicole and Kristen; and his beloved great grandchildren Mason, Maximus, and Leonidas. Joseph was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1st from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, Nj 07733. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2nd at 10:00 AM at Tower Hill Church, 255 Harding Rd, Red Bank. Burial will follow at William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
