Joseph Mazza, III, 60, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 27th.
Joseph was born in Long Branch, NJ and was raised in Holmdel, NJ. Throughout his childhood, he plugged into the spark of life by attending many historic musical events of the 1970’s at the PNC Arts Center, Asbury Park Convention Hall and the Stone Pony with the company of friends that he kept throughout his adult life. In adolescence, Joseph’s father guided him in the family business of Scrap Metal and Recycling, instilling in him life lessons of perseverance, discipline and hard work that shone through in every pursuit Joseph made throughout his life.
Joseph graduated from Holmdel High School in 1980. After graduating from high school, he joined his father at Neptune Iron and Metal, where his natural talent for precision, discrimination and meticulous attention to detail blossomed into catalysts for prolonged success. It was these assets that allowed Joseph to thrive in his favorite business venture – structure demolition as part of Shore Auto Wreckers; he built a strong reputation of successfully and safely demolishing at-risk structures that would otherwise wreak havoc on the surrounding environment. Through these talents and skills, he was able to serve his community in a way that was practical and future-oriented. His dedication to his craft, team and family eventually afforded him the opportunity to buy Neptune Iron and Metal from his father and run the company with his wife, Carol Ann. He ultimately retired from the company and moved to Florida to watch his daughter, Taylor, grow up in the Sunshine State.
Joseph was a stoic and loving father who never missed an opportunity to reinforce a deeper life lesson to his children, always connecting back to the importance of family, and how to become a strong and self-sufficient member of society.
Joseph is predeceased by his father, Joseph “Junior” Mazza, his mother Dorothy Mazza and his sister Kathy Mazza.
Joseph is survived by his wife Carol Mazza of Palm City, Florida; his daughter Taylor Mazza of Stuart, Florida and his stepson Evan Rowe of Los Angeles, California; and his nephew and niece, as well as many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.
