Joseph Bulvid, 70, of Holmdel, passed away June 30th, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Born in Bayonne and raised in Clark, Joe was a graduate of Arthur L. Johnson High School. He went on to earn his business degree from Rutgers University. Joe married Nancy Kuriskin in 1981. The couple initially settled in Spring Lake, later moving to Holmdel.
Joe’s approach to every aspect of life was to give 100%. He was a devoted and loving husband and father, always putting the needs of his family first. Joe was that person who was never late, and could always be counted on. He would always help a friend. Joe was a true gentleman and held himself to a high standard of integrity.
Along with a great intellect, Joe possessed remarkable energy and drive, which led him to a successful 30-year career at Johnson & Johnson HQ. As Vice President Global Benefits, Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions, Joe was responsible for early-stage engagement in all U.S. and International acquisitions and divestitures, supporting over 400 transactions. Always an innovator, Joe created a unique M&A role in Corporate America involving the strategic implications of employees including deal structure, Merger Agreement development, negotiations, due diligence and retention strategies; impacting Finance, Legal, Business and Human Resources aspects of a deal. Joe was a featured speaker at various M&A seminars and conferences.
Additionally, Joe was an Adjunct Professor at NYU. He taught a Mergers & Acquisitions graduate course at the NYU School of Professional Studies for many years. He enjoyed providing real-world experience and knowledge to his students, as well as mentoring them as they began or advanced their careers.
Joe also enjoyed a 3rd vocation as a playwright, having numerous short plays produced in NYC, London, Hong Kong, and various regional U.S theaters. The theatre was his passion, but he also enjoyed any sport that was on TV. Always generous with his time, Joe spent many years volunteering to coach his son’s various teams.
An accordion player since childhood, Joe loved performing for family and friends. Christmas wasn’t Christmas without accordion music at our holiday gatherings.
Joe was very fond of animals, particularly cats. He also held a special place in his heart for turtles.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy, and his son Eric. He will be loved always and forever.
At the request of the family, Joseph will be privately cremated, and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
