Josephine “Irene” Dochych, 91, of Holmdel, passed away Monday at home.
Irene was born in Manhattan and raised in Queens. After graduating from high school, she worked during the day while attending classes at night at New York University to earn her B.S. degree in Accounting. After her college graduation she obtained her CPA certification and eventually opened her own accounting practice that she had for many years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt; nothing was more important to her than family. Irene enjoyed traveling around the world, going to Atlantic City, reading, cooking, and entertaining her family and friends, including her gourmet dinner club. She was known for her love of celebrating holidays with beloved family, honoring her Ukrainian Catholic traditions, and her endless generosity.
Irene is survived by her children Donna Gordon and her husband Richard of Orlando, FL; Lorraine Whitfield of Bethesda, MD; Louise Dochych of Holmdel, NJ; her beloved grandchildren Nicole, Corey and Erica; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
