Dear Jackie, Please accept my sincere condolences. I was really sorry to hear that she was so ill. I can share two memoies of Sandy. The first was when we were about seven years old. Sandy and her parents were in Montreal and staying at her grandparents' home. My other American cousin, Joan, was visiting also. The three of us were the same age. We spent the visit running around the huge field behind the house. We were all too young and silly to think about writing letters and becoming friends. The second time we connected, Sandy and I were 19 years old. The American cousins were visiting Montreal and were at our hourse for dinner. I remember her sitting and chatting about her plan to become an actress. She was such an attentive daughter when her mother was ill, and her play, Sunrise Sunset, certainly revealed her intense loyalty. love and appreciation for her parents. We may not have been close, but she was kind enough to include me in a poem she wrote when my Aunt Gertie Bernstein passed away. I hope the memories give you some comfort. Myrna

Julia was both my classmate at college and a friend. She helped coach me on my monologues and helped me grow as an artist and an actor. Having wished I could have been able to study with the eminent Uta Hagen, I was introduced to Julia and considered her the next best thing. She was generous to me. She considered acting to be a higher calling, believed in God and studied human behavior like a hawk. She always stayed in touch and was proud of her students. She always seemed a contemporary and I must confess I was shocked to learn her age was just about 86 at her passing. She never got "old" in my mind really. Refreshingly relevant and always at work (and play). Every summer, I will think of Shakespeare and all the myriad productions of his work being performed by many fledgling and desperate actors and consequently: I will think of Julia. Love you dear friend. And much Love to Jackie. "Fear no more the heat o' the sun, Nor the furious winter's rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages" -Cymbeline, William Shakespeare

On the outside Julia was stubborn and stern but when u were blessed to really know her you saw the inside of her which was very tender and warm. She once told me that she was not a mother but she would have been a good one and I know that would have been true. I pray that she rests in peace. We love u Julia. Lisa, Ihab, Ian, and Abby.
