Kathleen Ann Gallagher née Duggan, 83, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday night surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born and raised in the Bronx, she graduated from St. Pius High School and following graduation she went to secretarial school. Kathleen then began her career working in the Empire State Building. Kathleen would meet the love of her life, John, and the two would marry in 1964. A few years later they moved to Matawan to raise their young family.
Kathleen enjoyed bowling, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family. She loved to host big summer parties at their home. She has many memories and friends at the Keyport and Avalon Yacht Clubs, where she and her husband would go to watch sunsets. She loved going out to dinner and meeting new people while they were out. Some of Kathleen and her husband’s favorite spots were Yesterday’s, Huddy’s, Green Meadows just to name a few. For the past 15+ years she has loved spending summers in Avalon with her husband, kids, grandchildren and all of their friends. Above all else she loved taking care of her family.
Kathleen is predeceased by her brother John Duggan.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband John Gallagher of Aberdeen; her children John Gallagher and his wife Colleen of Philadelphia and Mary Vassilakos and her husband Dino; her siblings, Rosemary Collier, Kay McGrath, Eileen Maxwell and her husband Don, and her sister-in-law Carolyn Duggan; as well as her beloved grandchildren Peter, James and Kathryn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, November 29th from 2:00- 4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, November 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel.
