Kathryn C. Wood 91, of Long Branch passed away on Friday, August 4th
Kathryn was born in Jersey City, moved to Long Branch as a teenager and graduated from Long Branch High School.
She was a woman who enjoyed a busy and full social life, most recently as a performer with the Long Branch Senior Legends. She also loved to tap dance, sing songs and take care of numerous small children all who knew her as Aunt Kathryn. A notable woman of strength and fortitude, she provided for her family as a single mother sometimes working three jobs. Known for her loving and generous nature, she was also renowned for her amazing sense of humor and just being downright “cool.” She could often be seen “scooda-pooping” (her words) around town in her 1994 bright green, 5-speed GEO Tracker and enjoying every minute while she left laughter in her wake. She was beautiful, funny, independent and a role model; she will be dearly missed.
Kathryn is predeceased by her parents, William Coyle and Blanche Fitzgerald; her siblings, Elizabeth Coyle, Blanche Acerra, Claire Coughlan, and Mary Gladstone.
Surviving are her children, Margaret Lynne Wood and her husband William Muckley, Douglasville, GA, Trudell Olsen and her husband Christian, Neptune, William Wood, Long Branch, and Cynthia Wood, Long Branch; her siblings, William Coyle, Dorothy Wood, Joan Feldman, Margaret McGirr, Alice Mansfield, John Coyle, and Robert Coyle, her grandchildren, Shawn Olsen, and Maren Olsen; six great-grandchildren, and 40 nieces and nephews.
