Lois S. Green, 84, of Holmdel, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Riverview Medical Center.
Lois was born in Long Branch and raised in Red Bank. She was a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School where she was in the marching band and in the choir. She would go on to attend Rutgers College, where she would meet her husband and 63-year partner, Leonard.
Lois was very active in her synagogue, Congregation B’nai Israel, serving as President for two terms. She was a member of Hadassah and an active supporter of the State of Israel. She was an avid reader, loved New York Times crossword puzzles, and was a member of MENSA. Lois and her husband spent many years together developing their horse stable, D.J. Stable. Their horses have competed in recent Kentucky Derby’s, Kentucky Oaks, Breeders’ Cup races and other top events worldwide.
Lois is predeceased by her siblings Sandra Gutmann and Gary Siegel.
Lois is survived by her husband Leonard Green; her children Beth Green of Long Island, Debra Green and her husband Martin Feinberg of Rumson, and Jonathan Green and his wife Michelle of Fair Haven; her brother Robert Siegel and his wife Helen; her sister-in-law Honi Robins; and her beloved grandchildren Carly, Griffin, Robin, Wyatt, and Kenny.
A service will be held Friday, June 2nd at 10:30 AM at B’nai Israel Synagogue, 171 Ridge Rd, Rumson. A burial will follow at Monmouth Fields Cemetery in West Long Branch. Donations in Lois’ honor can be contributed to the Jeremy’s Heroes or the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund at Congregation B’nai Israel.
