Lynne Sozomenu, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly at age seventy on December 12, 2022.
A loving daughter of Franklin and Anne Walker, she was born in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Brookdale Community College, went on to work with her father at the Navy Ship Store Offices in Brooklyn and, later in life, at the Spotswood School District Special Services Department.
At age 14, she met the love of her life and partner, Arthur Sozomenu, at Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church, where both were active members in the youth group. The couple was married in 1973 and raised two beautiful and accomplished children, Craig and Alexis in Aberdeen, New Jersey.
Lynne led a rich and active life of travel, sport, family and social gatherings. In recent years, Lynne’s love for the beach drew her and Arthur to Brick, NJ, where they retired.
Lynnie (as she was affectionately called) always had a beaming smile on her face and was known for her vibrant sense of humor and love of family. She adored reading, pickleball and spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren, Harper and Parker, were the light of her life. She was the most devoted, involved, loving and fun Yiayia two grandkids could ask for.
Lynne was predeceased by her parents and son, Craig Sozomenu, and her sister, Patrice Todd. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Sozomenu; daughter Alexis Daugherty and her spouse, Tim Daugherty; granddaughter, Harper, and grandson, Parker Daugherty; sister, Joanne Kakoyiannis, (spouse, Peter Kakoyiannis); brother, Dr. Dennis Walker; aunt, Beatrice Anagnos; sister and brothers-in law, Anita Kefalas, Anthony Athens and George Sozomenu.
She will be greatly missed by her cousins, Victoria Khoshtinat and Antoinette Tsiotis, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
