Margaret C. Patey, 89, of Eatontown formerly of Oceanport passed away early Saturday morning at home.
Margaret was born and raised in Jersey City. She had a short enrollment in Brookdale Community College but following that she attended St. Peters College and Asbury Park Business College. Her family moved to Oceanport in 1958 and she was working in New York City as an Executive Secretary for Dresser Industries, M.G Kellogg Co and Albert Wilcox Co. While working in NYC she was a member of the Women’s Softball League and loved to go sightseeing.
Margaret left her job in NYC to come back to Oceanport to help care for her ill father and she took a job at Fort Monmouth where she would stay for 20 years. Following her retirement, she went to work for the state as a home health aide.
Margaret was a deeply religious woman, a parishioner of both Precious Blood and Our Lady Star of the Sea. She was very involved in all aspects of the church. She was a religious instructor in both CCD’s, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and a charter member of the Star of the Sea Social Concerns Committee.
Margaret had a love for traveling and has been to many places including Hawaii, Canada, England, Italy, Israel, France, Switzerland, Ireland, and Germany.
Margaret is predeceased by her father Thomas Patey in 1974, her mother Alice Patey in 1985 and her brother Richard Patey in 1991.
Visitation will be Friday, June 11th from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A Mass will be offered Saturday, June 12th at 10:30 am at Church of the Precious Blood, 72 Riverdale Ave, Monmouth Beach. A burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
