Margaret Parotino, 94, passed away peacefully on February 14 in Fairfield, California. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, the third of eleven children, from the union of Salvatore and Vincenza Alfieri. Margaret married John Parotino in 1940 and settled in Long Branch, New Jersey for over 60 years. After John passed away in 2000, she moved to California to be close to her children. Margaret and John owned and operated 'Johnny's Tap Room' which served the Long Branch community for over 40 years. Margaret was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. In her younger years she was known for her high fashion. Margaret and John traveled throughout the world during their marriage, including annual trips to California to visit their children and grandchildren. Along with travel, Margaret enjoyed walks on the Long Branch boardwalk, Monmouth Race Track, and cooking. Her grandchildren always looked forward to her delicious Italian cuisine. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Barbara Merrill, of Fairfield, California, her son, Peter Parotino of Mill Valley, California, and four grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Merrill and Nick and Michael Parotino, all of California. She is survived by three sisters, Yolanda Mancini of Ocean Township, New Jersey, Marie Esposito of Livingston, New Jersey, Julie Venero of Margate, Florida, and one brother, Louis Alfieri of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Visitation will be Thursday, 4 -7 PM, at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street at Broadway, Long Branch . A funeral mass will be offered Friday 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch,. Entombment will follow in Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
